Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) / Hair restoration
Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy uses injections of a concentration of a patient's own platelets to accelerate the healing of injured tendons, ligaments, muscles and joints. In this way, PRP injections use each individual patient's own healing system to improve musculoskeletal problems.
What You Need to Know. PRP treatment can help support wound healing in trauma and joint injury. The technique can address male pattern baldness, stimulate the growth of hair transplants and enhance other cosmetic procedures.
Studies have shown that PRP treatment can have a success rate of up to 90%. One study, for example, found that patients with knee osteoarthritis who received PRP treatment experienced significant pain reduction and improvement in function compared to those who received a placebo injection.
